Unique Boat House on Chazy Lake in the Adirondacks
You are literally RIGHT on the water. Beautiful views of Lyon Mountain and on a clear day Whiteface Mountain. Beautiful sunsets over the lake. Enjoy a private beach with water sports such as kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, and jumping on the water trampoline. Play in Moon Brook. Bike on the country road. Hike up Lyon Mountain or other Adirondack destinations. The space The cottage is an early 1900s boat house that was converted to living quarters in the mid-1900s. The kitchen and bathroom were updated in Spring 2021, and all rooms were painted. The kitchen appliances were not replaced in 2021. The kitchen, bathroom and a large family room are on the first floor. The family room has a large dining table, 2 couches, a day bed with a trundle, an island, and big windows across the lake side of the house. Upstairs is a room with a queen bed and a room with 2 twin beds. There is not a door between the 2 bedrooms. It has the charm of an old historic building including the hand crafted diamond windows, large open living room that used to be for boat storage, shiplap on the exterior, the unique shape of the building, and of course the uneven floors :-). You have your own private large screened in porch as well as an outdoor deck by the lake. The Boat House is not insulated and is not heated but we do open it early season and a little into fall for those campers who are prepared for cool weather camping. Guest access Overnight guests are limited to 3, with a maximum of 5 guests on the property at any time. The Boat House is one of 2 camps that I have on the property. You will have private access to the Boat House. You have your own private outdoor fireplace immediately outside. The loons and ducks usually swim by there in the early morning and evening. You'll have private access to the Boat House porch and Boat House dock. The beach, grill, horse shoe pit, and outdoor toys/boats are shared with one other cabin (Deer Lodge). Some guests in the past initially had been concerned about sharing the toys, but after their stay they have said it was never a problem. There are 3 kayaks and a paddle board available for guest use. We also have a water trampoline that is available for part of the season. If the trampoline is important to you, please check with me if it would be available during your stay. If you need CHILD size life jackets and plan to use the boats, please bring life jackets with you. It's particularly important to me that parents provide properly fitting and secured life jackets for their children. As of May 2021, New York law requires that all children under 12 years of age wear a USCG–approved Type I, II, or III PFD while on board any vessel less than 65 feet in length (including canoes, kayaks, and rowboats). Guests are required to follow NY State boating safety laws. You'll find sand/small pebbles on the beach and in the water there is mostly small pebbles. You may want to bring water shoes with you if you plan to go in the lake. Other things to note I provide linens for the bed and one bath towel for each guest. You may want to bring extra bath and beach towels. *No smoking of any kind on the property. It's amazing what happens to a family when there are no outside distractions. It's definitely a 'disconnect-from-the-world' retreat. Adirondacks have limited cell phone reception. We do have internet/WIFI. If you set 'wifi calling' on your mobile phone, you should have good phone reception. There is a TV with a DVD player and an extensive DVD collection. No cable/Satellite TV. We have a collection of board and card games for family entertainment. If you have an Apple TV, fire stick, etc. you could stream your services to the TV using the internet connection. The internet service usually has bandwidth for good streaming experience. Please take good care of our lake! No lake vehicles of any kind can be launched from our beach. They must be launched at the lake’s boat launch where they will be decontaminated from any potential invasive organisms/seaweeds. If you launch lake vehicles, they should be returned to your trailers and not pulled up onto the beach or tied to our docks. If you do plan to bring any lake vehicles, please discuss with us in ADVANCE of finalizing your reservation so we can discuss lake best practices and adhering to local laws. There is not much seaweed in our immediate part of the lake but if you are traveling by boat, please avoid seaweed beds so you don’t contribute to spreading it around the lake. The lake is a fragile ecosystem and a habitat for many plants and animals. If boating, keep a watch out for loons and other birds and steer clear of them. Please don’t trample the grasses and small trees along the shoreline in front of Deer Lodge or the Boat House. It’s a critical component to keeping the shoreline from eroding. The beach area has plenty of room for you to easily access to the lake. No hunting of any kind is allowed on the property. Fishing is allowed. You are subject to NY State fishing laws.
