Old Railroad Site near Hiking Trails, Amazing View
Easy access, no stairs This is a 1,200 sq ft cabin on 6 private acres that is positioned on the original Cloud-Climbing railroad. AWD or 4x4 required. Bedroom One, has a queen and a twin bed, french doors open to deck, there's an adjacent full bath. Bedroom Two has a queen bed a full bath with a stand-up shower, and washer & dryer. The Living Area has a sofa-bed & Smart TV. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals. The cabin has breathtaking views from the 75 ft front deck. The space You MUST bring 4X4 or AWD vehicle to rent this property! Please specify the make and model of the vehicle you will bringing when making your reservation/inquiry. Trailers longer than 12ft are not permitted. The 1/4 mi. (400 m) road to the cabin is very steep, but safe in a proper vehicle. Two-wheel drive vehicles will damage this gravel road trying (and failing) to exit. Claims of up to $250 will be assessed for these damages, not including tow charges. Our Guest will be responsible if any of their Visitors violate the rules. It is not practical to hike up & down the road, or park your vehicle at the top of the road. For clarification, contact Susan, our Co-Host. We do not accept third-party reservations. The person making the reservation must be the Primary Occupant. You cannot assign or "gift" the reservation to someone else. Access will be denied to third parties unaccompanied by the Primary Occupant, and refunds will not be granted. We do allow dogs, but they need to be cleared before booking by our Co-Host, Susan, tell us about your dog, and she will get back to you. There is a $25 fee, per stay, for each dog. The fee can be paid by Vënmo or cash on arrival. Dogs must be crated if left unattended, and cannot be left unattended outdoors or on the deck. Bonnie's Trestle Cabin is operated by New Mexico Rails-to-Trails Association. It was left to us by Bonnie Brooks, our most generous benefactor after her untimely passing in 2020. "Bonnie's Trestle" is located on the property and includes a dedication plaque acknowledging all the support from the surrounding community. Guest access There are plenty of trails on this private 6-acre site, and it's all worthy of exploration. All of the public trails in the National Forest are open, and there are plenty to choose from within walking distance of the cabin. The property features "Bonnie's Trestle," the only fully restored trestle on the old railway. If you're a railroad or history enthusiast, this is the place for you. Other things to note Your full Deposit will be forfeited if any of the following rules are violated. In some cases you will also be asked to vacate the property immediately with no refund. • No large gatherings or parties (Evidence of partying applies). • Excessive filth and trash is left inside or outside of cabin. • Damage to any interior or exterior furnishings. • Bringing more guests to stay than authorized in the reservation. • Bringing a dog or dogs on the property without permission. • Any damage caused by dogs. • There is no smoking inside the cabin. • If fire restrictions are in place, no smoking is allowed at all. • No illegal drug use inside or outside the cabin. • If you need clarification, please contact our Co-Host, Susan.
