Our lofty house is within 300 m from Las Cujas beach and 400 m from the famous Penguin beach. It was one of the first built on this magic site in a style that has become iconic. Situated at the foot of green mountains with native forests, Cachagua has become the place to be at this marvelous coast. Yet, it maintained its rural character with unpaved roads and grass thatched roofs. We have maintained the house in its original state with an enchanting, peaceful atmosphere that is hard to beat. The space The house was the second to be built in Cachagua when a small colony of artists, scientists and other freethinkers first started the place. It is a now classic example of the original style. We remodeled the bathrooms and upgraded the kitchen, but otherwise left things as much as possible in the original style. We intentionally decided not to have wifi, tv, or washing machines. We like to be unplugged when in Cachagua (except for occasional visits to the internet cafe that serves excellent homemade pastries). The wooden table facing the garden is a favorite place to hang out, chat, eat or read. The quiet of the place is occasionally interrupted by a humming bird or so (the biggest species in the world), but otherwise you just hear the everlasting remote rumble of waves. The nights can be fresh at the coast, so the fireplaces in the living room and at the terrace can come handy at times. Guest access You will have access to the entire house except for a small locked room where we keep our personal things. Other things to note Cachagua is very quiet with the beaches often almost empty, except in the high season (from Christmas till about February 15) when the village fills up. The coastal climate is much milder than inland. When Santiago has 35 degrees Celsius, Cachagua is likely to have 25. Often the mornings can at times be cloudy due to the sea, typically followed by sunny afternoons. Nights are fresh, so bring a sweater.
