The space We are situated right on Lake Superior's South Shore. It is a really special place and design, where artists have recorded albums here, bestselling books written (really!), marriages begun and anniversaries celebrated, and many beautiful memories made. We kept this for ourselves and our close friends for 13 years, but as our kids became teenagers and we were able to get here less, we wanted to bless others by sharing its unique beauty and incomparable setting. It is a very special place and because of this we ask that you respect the property so we have a rather strict policy for NO EXCESS DRINKING PARTIES. I also want to mention the fireplaces, we needed to switch them both to electric inserts because of maintenance challenges, the fireplaces are now electric, with no remotes, the ON switches are on the right hand side at the base, one button is for the flame light, and the other is for a 'crackle' sound. **Please note all pics and captions - the uniqueness of the home may make it unsuitable for your needs: for example, we don't have traditional bedrooms with 4 walls and a door, and the staircase IS NOT little kid friendly! We want you happy, comfortable and safe, so do your homework by reading entire listing and viewing the pics! Guest access Guests have access to the home and all outside spaces. Garage, hot tub, and storage building are NOT included! PLEASE NOTE: We have installed security cameras on both the entrances to insure your safety - also that we have a check point on the number of guests to match the reservations. People requiring a lot of privacy WILL NOT find it here! It's gorgeous, unique and fun, but you want to be sure you are quite comfortable with your housemates! Also think VERY carefully and study pics (especially of staircase!) well before considering a stay with young children. For safety reasons, we DO NOT recommend our home for crawlers and toddlers! We personally love this next aspect, but just be aware: Herbster is remote - it's basically the country, with the nearest gas and small grocery store 8 miles away. Our Internet is fiber optic and usually always works, but if you're an executive expecting to work and vacation at the same time, or you want to walk to shops, dining, etc. a larger town is probably going to be better for you. Our Bark Point retreat is large and gorgeous, but it's still a "cabin." Come for a quiet retreat, not a "brand new condo" experience ;)
