Come and get your goat on!
Nestled at the base of the Blue Ridge and tucked away in the woods, we offer a quiet and peaceful get away while being convenient to tons. Enjoy the peace of 13-acres of woodlands and pasture. A large private deck provides a plenty sun with pasture and woodlands views with some great star watching at night. Miles of walking, the Appalachian trail, fantastic cycling; historic towns and places; wineries, breweries, and distilleries; Potomac and Shenandoah rivers. All just minutes away. The space Howdy! It’s Autumn and our uninvited invasive bug “friend” the Brown Marmalated Stinkbug is trying to get inside for Winter. This year is actually the lightest stink bug Fall in several years! Life in the woods… always exciting. But there’s fall farm tours, Ocktoberfests, and the fall foliage by day and star watching on those moonless nights is always great. Come on out! The Goat Loft is quiet getaway tucked back from the road, private and nestled in the trees, with goats and sheep and tons of quiet. But, we’re also just minutes from tons of stuff to do. There’s a bit of everything for anyone all minutes away: Fishing, tubing, and kayaking on Shenandoah and Potomac rivers, hiking on the Appalachian Trail, miles and miles of scenic cycling, historic Harpers Ferry, Leesburg, and Charlestown, breweries, wineries, vineyards, shopping, dining, and so much more is only 15 minutes away. The cycling here here in Western Loudoun County is fantastic. Scenic roads, gravel grinding, rolling hills for miles and miles… I don’t do as much I used too, but I can recommend short rides and long rides that are great. Or just chill out on the private deck with a huge shade umbrella and comfy deck furniture and watch the animals. Do some yoga or meditate. It’s quiet and low stress back here and we’re well off the road. Maybe take a long walk down the gravel road behind the house and talk to the horses and cows - and the occasional deer or turkey or even a cute family of skunks. At night the star watching from the deck is great and the songs of the tree frogs are amazingly zen. We’ve got 1Gbps high speed internet and WiFi so if work calls, you’re covered. But screw work! The goats and sheep are super friendly and curious. Feel free to let the kids feed the animals the animal crackers we left on the counter. Or apples or greens from the grocery store. Or popcorn. They love leaves from the trees too! Good dogs are always welcome and there’s lots of smells, sights, our dogs, and lots of good walking. Please bring a leash though! The chickens, geese, and goats are often roaming about doing their thing and they may not think your dog is as cool as we do. But! Fair warning - Farm life is farm life. Mud season is real. Bugs and smells and hunting season all happen. Animals are… well, animals. Hunting season echos through the hills September through April and target shooting can just randomly be heard. Pinterest fails to provide those images when you search for “farms”. ALSO: Please remember, we do live here and there’s equipment and half finished projects and at sometimes it’s a bit of mess (blame it on the kids!) And, as life and luck comes at us what we have and offer may be different. But, it is our little slice of Heaven and we’re happy to share it with you - fleeting moments of perfect bliss and all the rest of the times! Guest access Full use of the separate apartment excluding the locked armoire located in the closet. Full private kitchen and bathroom facilities. You’re welcome to walk around and explore the farm as well. Please don’t removed or take our stuff though - “do unto others” and all that. Cool? And… We get it, you’re in the area for a wedding and you want to catchup or you’ve got friends or family around here and want them to see the goats or to spend time with them. PLEASE ask ahead of time if you’re you’re thinking of having people come over that aren’t part of the reservation. This is our home, we love our goats, and our privacy, and we love sharing the place through AirBNB with our guests, BUT we need to know who is here and reserve the right to not allow extra people here. Thank you for understanding! Other things to note I’ve tried to offer and stock everything you’d need, but just holler if you have a question or a need! And suggestions are welcome, I’ve added a few things based of guest suggestion. PLEASE NOTE: Spring and fall, our most unwelcome guest, the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug is trying to get back outside or to come in before winter. This is an invasive species with no native predator and just part of life out here. PLEASE don’t smoosh them on the walls. Suck them up with the vacuum or flush them. If the battery is dead lemme know and I’ll get ya a fresh one. AND PRETTY PLEASE, don’t ding ME on cleanliness for THE STINK BUGS (and this past year Lady Bugs galore), because there’s just not much we can do about them. It’s part of living in the country and in the middle of the woods.
