Three minute drive to a wildlife sanctuary with miles of trails, near the Good Life Center (legendary farm founded by Scott & Helen Nearing). The space The owner, David, and his late wife hired local architect Bruce Stahnke to design this off-the-grid house. Their son (a master cabinetmaker) built it in 2012 to share with family. It has a seamless back-up generator so you won't even notice that the power comes mostly from the sun. They all enjoy bird watching, fishing, boating, camping and exploring the nearby islands. The rocky beach is so secluded you'll rarely be aware of even a boat going by, much less a noisy jet ski. David grew up coming here as a small child on weekends and vacations with his siblings and later his own boys. They would clamber and play on the beach all day. It's a joy sharing this paradise with people from all over the world. NEW king sized bed and bunk beds were added in 2019! Guest access You'll have access to all 25 protected acres, should you choose to explore it! There are tools, hardware, and lawn equipment that are just for the owner's use in the garage. But the table tennis, foosball, and most of the boating stuff are for your use. We require you to sign a liability waiver before venturing out on the water. Other things to note We require a $100 security deposit to ensure guests strip beds, start a few loads of laundry and wash their dishes before they leave. This cuts down on cleaning costs. You should pick-up groceries for the first night/day. Bug spray and sunscreen are essentials too. It's a secluded area. There are great farms, farmer's markets, bakeries, markets, and restaurants but they are all spread out in Brooksville, Bucksport, Buck's Harbor, Blue Hill, Stonington, Castine, and Sargentville.
