This charming and historic 2nd story 1 -bedroom apartment is located in the heart of downtown Siren, Wisconsin above the old Nelson General Store on Main Street. We are just a short drive from the Twin Cities, Duluth, and Eau Claire. The apartment has been completely renovated while keeping all the original historic craftsmanship. With modern and comfortable furnishings, you will feel like you’re in a city loft with the quaintness of a small town historic neighborhood. The space We are located within walking distance to all the local restaurants, shops, salons/spas, parks, lakes & beaches, the Gandy Dancer Trail, mini golf, movie theater, golf courses, hockey ice rink, and the Chattering Squirrel Drive Thru Coffee Shop. Walk down the stairs to Chipmunk Cheeks Gourmet Treats and sample some fresh fudge, popcorn, or ice cream and the Acorn Pantry kitchen store for some oil and vinegar tasting or join us for a cooking class. Within 10 miles there are several boat landings, lakes, wineries, historical museums, landing strips, parks, walking/biking/snowmobile/UTV trails, and casinos. Our story began over 100 years ago when Caroline and Roy Dillion along with their 5-year-old daughter Marie, packed up everything they owned and moved across the country from Mitchell, SD to the tiny little resort town of Webster, WI (just outside of Siren.) It was the early 1900's when they started a resort they named "Pike Bend Resort". It was a destination for businessmen and their families. As the 1922 ad in the Duluth Harold reads, "Pike Bend Resort, a Businessmen's Resort". It had several small cabins and even a dance hall and hosted guests from all over including the Twin Cities and Chicago. We are blessed to have hundreds of photos of folks in fancy dresses and overcoats holding strings of fish along the shores of Clam River (Clam Lake, Siren). Over 100 years later, their great great granddaughters Hannah and Grace and their mom, Holly, are honoring their entrepreneurial spirit in opening "Pike Bend Retreat", Vacation Rentals. They may not be located on Clam Lake but it just so happens we live on Clam Lake just a short boat ride down the river from where it all began.
