The Commons: Basement double bedroom
My home is not far from the I-75 exit, is within walking distance of Lake Superior State University (LSSU) which is the host to numerous athletic events. We are close to downtown Sault Ste. Marie attractions and the international Bridge to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. An excellent place for visiting parents, students, faculty, and traveling nurses. We hope to provide a quiet and pleasant home. The space It is a practical family home of the 50s. Guest access This particular space is in the basement, pleasantly painted with double bed, table to work on, counter space, private bath and access to laundry. The basement was once a work area full of carpentry machines, lathe and master wood burning furnace. It has been mostly cleared and remodeled. The workbench (which remains to be sorted), a tall skill saw and a tall standing drill remain along one half of the East wall and respected as not for general use. A usable country table in front of the bench forms a natural boundary and is for general use. Do not let the fact this bed is in the basement put you off--it is a very nice space with access to washer/dryer. The half devoted as a bedroom includes a walk-in shower room, four chairs, a cedar chest, two counter tops (one microwave), a country table and the and the use of a library (converted wood room). The basement double futon has more space and surfaces to spread out on and with a private walk in shower. During your stay My intention is to be there to greet you. If it is during my work hours, I will contact you about it and see you later. I do enjoy sharing a bit of our lives but also do not want to delay your activities. This is my home which I value. Within reason, I expect you to treat all furniture with care and make an effort to keep it crumb free, tidy and dry. Other things to note To respect earth's needs, we recycle washed plastic, washed glass bottles, paper, cardboard and cans. Boxes need to be broken down and separated from cereal box type. Recycling are placed in bags in the breezeway which I empty. Anything with oil cannot be recycled. Please do not overwash towels/linen. I will wash blankets, spreads. Our nights here are often cool even in summer. Winter is of course cold. In the winter. I personally keep the heat 65F with good warm blankets but, please do your part and dress warm and have slippers. I can adjust up to 73 and do have a space heater when needed. It is always a game up here to keep the gas bill as low as possible Nov-Mar as well as let earth do her job of cooling our heating planet.
