A natural getaway for couples, nomad workers, families, pets, bikers, hikers, kids... all love our 750 sf cabin with pond and huge yard. Full kitchen, large balcony-deck, fire pit, pond, and parking for 4 cars. The "Hop River Trail" is just steps from our driveway. Walk a 1/2 mile to a lovely meandering waterfall, or walk many miles if you love a good hike. Just 15-min drive to Manchester, Vernon, UCONN Storrs; only 30-min to Hartford, casinos, airports. (Pls declare pets under "Guests".) The space The Cozy Cabin is loved by all... suitable for a short getaway OR full-time living. Walls and ceilings are lined in rustic solid wood, floors are cozy carpet. Kitchen is fully equipped with full-sized appliances, blender, toaster oven, coffee maker, spices. Beds are super comfy with high quality linens and pillows. The queen Simmons BeautyRest pillow top mattress is especially sumptuous. Large balcony/deck is great for eating and beautiful views of our 2-acre front yard, pond and lit water fountain. Our house is on the other side of the pond. High speed (500mbps) internet with TV & Flex Box to access apps. Or you might just shut off the wifi and soak up the energy of nature to rejuvenate your own energy! Take walks, runs or bike rides on the Hop River Trail, which borders our 7 acres. Just a 1/2 mile up the trail, a beautiful meandering waterfall is a great place to meditate, picnic, or just gaze for a while. Dogs love it too! Guest access You'll have your own 1/4 mile driveway leading to your own little parking lot, with room for 5+ cars, just steps away from your front door. There is no step up into the first floor, so it's accessible for disabled people if they sleep on the full-sized (memory foam) sofa-bed in the living room. Two beds are upstairs via a spiral staircase OR using the outside steps to the deck entry into the bedroom and workspace area. Enjoy our 2+ acre front yard with a pond, yard games, chicken coop, a tall evergreen tree surrounded by boulders... plenty of room for pets and kids to romp and play. You're just 4 miles from major Interstate highways. You can get to shopping, restaurants, recreation, and University of CT within 15-minutes. Norwich casinos or the City of Hartford are 30-40 minutes away. Rocky Neck State Park beach is about 50 minutes away. Other things to note Potential downsides: 1) Bullfrogs, roosters and a main road are nearby. If you're very sensitive, bring earplugs or use the ambient sound machine we provide. Sleeping on the first floor worked wonders for the one guest who complained about the night sounds. 2) The spiral staircase can be narrow and challenging for extra tall, small, wide, or physically fragile guests. Dogs may have a rough time climbing the spiral stairs safely, and carrying them up is not safe. Carrying an infant up the stairs is not advisable either. But there is a nice wide outside stairway up to the balcony with a door into the huge (25' X 15') bedroom, with workspace and half bath. In very cold or snowy weather, however, it may not be safer to use that stairway at bedtime. Please plan accordingly and ask questions if you're not sure if the cabin will work for you.
