Founded by the Harmonists in 1814, then sold to Robert Owen, whom has several descendants still living in town. There are tours of the town starting at the Atheneum. Also many beautiful places to see….The Roofless Church, Carol’s Garden, the Granary, plus 2 labyrinths! The Red Geranium restaurant offers both formal and informal dining, it’s located in the next block by the Roofless Church. We also have several small town restaurants offering different dining experiences. The Yellow Tavern which has great food! Sara’s Harmonie Way which also has a wine bar and patio setting. The Main Cafe offers both breakfast & lunch and is now serving at Capers while renovation is going on in their building. And Mary Scott’s Kitchen offering dinner only at this time. Capers is a shop with a bakery, trinkets, clothes, & kitchen ware. They also have cooking classes! The Mews & Antique Mall has beautiful clothing and antiques…..3 buildings full! The Soap Shop which offers all fragrances of soap that is hand made in the shop! The Golden Rose flower shop has many decorative things & other trinkets & T-shirts! They help with all the weddings that take place in New Harmony! Plus other smaller shops in between!
