Located in the seaside village of Cowesett also known as the "Wellesley by the Sea". Cowesett borders East Greenwich and is the quaintest neighborhood in Warwick. Central location to ALL of RI. 5 minutes to the airport 15 minutes to Providence 30 min to Newport Yet completely separate from the bustle of the city. The space Direct waterfront, historic seaside cottage with backyard beach. Catch the bay sunsets and cast a line from the yard. The bay is teeming with fresh sea bass to cook on the propane grill. Kindle a crackling fire under the stars in the stone fire-pit. If a good book and the sound of the waves doesn’t lull you to sleep take a walk along the cove to the neighborhood Crows Nest Restaurant for fresh oysters, a buck a shuck! Walk to our neighborhood’s Twins Shellfish for fresh caught lobster to cook in the cottage’s well stocked kitchen and stop at the neighbor gift shop or bait shop along your stroll. If it’s nightlife you’re after, you can walk, bike or Uber to Main Street East Greenwich, a happening street of live music, quaint shops and delicious eats! Or walk, swim or kayak to Chelo’s waterfront venue for live music on the water! Cottage History: The seaside cottage was built in 1914 by the Higgins Family. Directed by their family doctor, The Higgins Family moved their young son, John to the sea for the salt air to heal his lungs of whooping cough. John Higgin's health improved and at five years old his mother threw him into the bay to learn how to swim! John grew up and went on to compete and win in the 1936 Summer Olympics and set two world records in 1935 and 1936 for swimming. During his career John Higgins won 11 national titles and set 10 world records in breaststroke and medley events and in 1971 he was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame. Cottage Rules: This seaside suite sleeps a maximum of 4 people and has parking for 1 car only. Please specify how many people will be staying upon booking. There is no street parking for additional vehicles. Any day time guests must leave by 9pm, total occupancy must not exceed 4 people during the day & 4 people overnight. Please let me know if you need handicap accessible parking and I can arrange this for you. Your cottage unit is private and is equipped with a washer and dryer, a full kitchen with a coffee maker, electric stove and oven, and a full bathroom. Your master bedroom overlooks the marina, the kitchen/living room and smaller bedroom overlooks Greenwich Bay. We provide complimentary Netflix for you to enjoy during your stay. Checkout is by 11:00am. There is a separate unit on the 2nd floor of the property. These units are completely separate and cannot access each other. There are no shared spaces between the units other than the beach. Owner lives on site. Please respect our neighbors, their privacy and their quiet. - Please no parties or events, playing loud music, or being loud in general. We don’t allow pets so that we can keep the guest apartment allergy free. There is a small well-behaved dog and cat that occasionally visit the cottage and use the fenced in yard but do not access or share the guest space/yard. Absolutely no smoking (including e-cigs, vaping, marijuana, etc.) in the property. No burning candles or incense inside. Outdoor propane grilling is provided, please be sure to turn off propane tank after grilling. Outdoor firepit is provided. Please be sure to put fire out before retiring for the evening. No glitter or confetti. The bay water is clean with freshwater inlet from neighboring Mary’s Creek. Great for swimming or floating! The bay floor has seashells, bring your water shoes for comfort. Bicycles, kayaks, board games and lawn games are provided for your pleasure. Please complete a liability release and use a life jacket when using kayaks. Paddling without a lifejacket is a finable offense in Warwick. Fishing rods, baby toys, kiddie pool, pack and play, highchair, grab bars, shower chair and handicap accessible parking available on request. Friendly, walkable neighborhood with marshes and coves to explore. Shopping and MANY local amenities nearby. 5 minutes from T.F. Green airport 15 minutes from Providence 30 minutes to Newport Guest access Private access. Parking available Other things to note The apartment is accessible by stairs that lead down to the waterfront yard. During the summer months there is ground level parking for those with mobility issues. Please let me know before hand if you have mobility issues and I can make special arrangements for you to park on ground level and avoid the stairs. Private yard space, private grill, private fire pit, and private outside eating area for guests. Basic kitchen and bath necessities as well as linens are available for your convenience during your stay. If you need more than what has been provided for your stay there are several markets as well as a Walmart are located within a 10 minute drive away. The cottage and all linens, towels, comforters, bath rugs and shower curtain are professionally cleaned and laundered after each checkout. Cleaning prices are as is and are set by professional cleaning service. In the summer months there are window AC units located in each bedroom. Filters are cleaned regularly. Crib, high chair, inflatable kiddie pool, shower grab bars and shower chair provided upon request. Please let me know if you’d like me to set up the pull out bed to a king bed that will sleep two people.
