Our warm and comfortable guest house sits on 75 acres of natural mountain forest... replete with several brooks and lots of waterfalls! A completely renovated century-old house, we are centrally located (just 12 miles from Montpelier, the capital city), and yet enjoy being "away-from-it-all"Our warm and comfortable guest house sits on 75 acres of natural mountain forest... replete with several brooks and lots of waterfalls! On the Northfield side of the mountain are the 3 covered bridges that inspired our name. You will pass under them if you come up the mountain from the Northfield side. Norwich University is on that side of the mountain. (Norwich U. is the first private military school in the country and home of N.U.'s famous Hockey games.) The capital city of Montpelier, with many delicious eateries and interesting shops is just 12 miles up the road. Many towns with real old-fashioned Vermont flavor: Northfield, Barre, Plainfield, Randolph, and more can be explored from this side of the 'hill'. Heading west off the mountain you'll find: Sugarbush / Mad River / and Stowe ski areas close by (20-40 min.) Waterbury, famous for their assortment of micro-brewery beers, many great restaurants, and attractions such as Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream factory and the Cold Hollow Cider Mill are over this way in a 20-30 minute drive. And you would head this way to visit Burlington, Vermont's largest town, on beautiful Lake Champlain (home of the University of Vermont) about 50 miles away. You can also choose to just spend some quiet time here! Enjoy a drink on the front porch and watch the moon rise over the distant mountain. Wake up to the soothing sound of the brooks and birds. Hike, read in the garden, or try your hand at bird watching. In the winter, sledding and snowshoeing are fun right here on the property.
