Just 10 miles inland from the beautiful, picturesque coastal town of Belfast Maine, Brooks is a charming small town with a small town feel. This beautiful lake-front home is only 20 minutes from Unity; home to the Common Ground Fair and 45 minutes from Bangor. A peaceful, winding, private dirt road will take you right up to the house. Directly across the road is our very own private beach with stunning views of the private, spring-fed lake! The space Behind the home are several thousand acres of beautiful woods. The grounds are naturally landscaped (no gardens in the front:)) with exposed ledge and all that nature can provide. The back yard also has a large fire pit, deck and is definitely rocky and woody (traverse carefully:)) You can eat on the patio table or on the picnic table overlooking the lake. Please note that guest are not allowed to start fires in either of the fire pits. On occasion, we can start a fire for you provided there is wood available. Just ask us! Although we share this private oasis with a few other camp owners, this serene setting is everything you can ask for to relax and renew the spirit. Just outside of your bedroom is a porch area that you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine, a cup of coffee, or anything else that is legal in the great state of Maine! We supply you with coffee upon your arrival and your refrigerator will be stocked with cold water. The barn door you enter your room from, has a lock for your privacy and convenience. There are a few unique and wonderful art pieces in your room for you to enjoy. Please respect them. There’s nothing like living on the lake! If you feel like hitting the lake, we have kayaks that you can use. There are hiking trials throughout Maine and there are even a few close to the house. If the ocean is your thing, then take the short drive to Belfast. Belfast is a beautiful coastal town with a lot of “groovy” energy. Fantastic dining, schooner trips, park events, fishing trips and hiking trails all on the ocean! We are located only 30 minutes from the coastal town of Camden and 45 minutes from the coastal town of Rockland! There are non-stop events in the summer to enjoy all along the coast. Day trips to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are a must and are only 53 miles and 58 miles respectively. Guest access There is a shared entry way with us that leads to your own private room and bathroom. This is the only access to the house for guest. You can access all of the backyard and front yard areas as well. During your stay We are definitely sociable and don’t mind interacting with our guest over wine or whatever, but completely understand if you just want time to yourself to enjoy the beautiful, peaceful surroundings that this place can offer. We just recently got a dog (puppy) that you may see during your stay. We keep her away from guest, but she'd be happy to get acquainted should you want to meet her. Other things to note Since we are located in a serene thickly wooded area, Wi-Fi availability can sometimes be a little limited. So far, guest report that it works ok. You have TV in your room and we have supplied you with a Blue Ray player and a few choices of movies (Can you tell we're old school:)) If you have a particular genera in mind, we might have it and would be happy to let you view them in your room.
