The house is located on the East Twin River about a mile from Lake Michigan. This stunning four-bedroom, two full, and two half bath LIFE Magazine Dream House are yours to live in as if it is your own. Whether it’s two days or two weeks, you will experience the genius of Frank Lloyd Wright's vision for American family life. Imagine waking up in this magical space and listening to the birds on the river then while observing the the light show as the morning sun is projected through the clerestory window screens onto the red brick windows. Spend your day sitting in the 63-foot-long living room reading a vintage novel pulled from the shelves in the library. Go down to the dock on the river to watch a Sandhill Crane land with a splash or simply marvel at how the light changes throughout the day Every turn will reveal a new detail that reaffirms Wright's genius. Spend a quiet evening around the fireplace and marvel at the thought that you are living in one of Frank Lloyd Wright's masterpieces! This is an opportunity to experience Frank Lloyd Wright’s vision for how the average American Family could live. Winter invites you to light up of the fireplace in the lounge area and snuggle up with a book, enjoy one of the many dvds about Frank Lloyd Wright, or watch the the wildlife outside as the feeders become the social gathering place for the birds of the neighborhood. When the weather is milder, the beautiful outside area summons you to the firepit or to play games on the expansive backyard overlooking the Marsh. The house has been featured on the Travel Channel's "Amazing Vacation Homes," The Fine Living Channel's "Around the World in 80 Homes," The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Dwell Magazine, Town and Country and at least 20 other national and regional Magazines. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Authorized by the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places is part of a national program to coordinate and support public and private efforts to identify, evaluate, and protect America's historic and archeological resources. Two Rivers is a historic American fishing town where you can still go to the fish store and get fresh-caught Lake Michigan whitefish, enjoy a concert in the town square's bandshell, or visit one of the many museums in town. Two Rivers is the quintessential small town where the clerk will actually measure your foot before selling you shoes in the 120-year-old downtown department store . Occupancy Limit: The standard rate is for 6 people. The maximum occupancy is 8 people. Each additional person over 6 is $50 per person per night to a maximum of 8 people. All listed rates include state and local lodging taxes. You must be at least 25 years old to rent the house unless other arrangements have been made. Amenities: Please keep in mind that this is an 81-year-old historic property. Renting the house is an opportunity to experience living in the space as it might have been in 1940 when it was completed. Thus, there is NOT air conditioning. Two Rivers, however, is in northern Wisconsin located on Lake Michigan and is known as "Cool City" because of the microclimate created by the lake that keeps the city about 15 degrees cooler than inland locations. There are fans and screens to create a breeze through the house when it is a little warm. Evenings are always cool in Two Rivers. Bed and bath linens are provided, as well as a full line of kitchen cookware, miscellaneous cooking oils, seasonings, coffee, tea, sugar, flour, cooking and baking utensils, laundry soap, dishwasher soap, etc. Simply pack your bags! Other Amenities: • wireless internet • a large lawn with many yard games • numerous books and inside games • a private dock to bird watch or fish • everything you would expect in a well-stocked vacation home Guest access Guests will have private access to the entire house during their stay Other things to note There are two fireplaces inside the house, but the larger fireplace is not usable. The fireplace in the Lounge/Library is available for use as is an outdoor fireplace in the Sunken Court on the backside of the house and also a fire pit in the yard.
