Restored Victorian 1889 house, now a family-friendly hospitality business for 20 years in Smithfield Virginia's Historic District. Wi-Fi, central air and heat, and cable tv are amenities for 4 bedrooms, 3 with private baths. Reserved individually or together as a private group rental. Smithfield is a quaint tourist destination near major resort, historic and beach attractions. Manager lives in basement apartment to assist as needed. Local occupancy tax of 6% will need to be collected from you. The space Parlors (common rooms) and seconds floor bedrooms have antique furnishings for an elegant, romantic ambiance. The top floor attic level Tower Suite adds to the nostalgic feel with cozy, vintage charm. Guest access You may rent an individual room or multiple rooms for either lodging or bed and breakfast reservations. The first floor parlors and sun porch are common areas that guests enjoy. We also offer private vacation house rental accommodations for groups up to 12 which allow for usage of the residential size kitchen and laundry facility. During your stay Either the owner or the professional manager who lives in the basement apartment on the property at all times when guests are in residence. We respect your privacy, yet also are accessible as needed, and happy to assist you as we can. Other things to note As a business we incur both state and local county taxes. AirBnB starting collecting state occupancy tax in Virginia with reservations made since July 1. We still have to remit a 6% local transient occupancy tax for Isle of Wight County which will need to be collected from you upon your arrival. Refreshment station with coffee and tea packet, filtered water in refrigerator and assorted treats in hallway near guest rooms. Location ~ Mansion on Main fronts Main St. at the stop light of Main St. and N. Church St., which runs alongside the house. Check-In (after 4:00pm) & Check-Out (at or before 11:00am) ~ Please coordinate an expected arrival time since staff also attends to house needs while awaiting guests. Check-in usually between 4:00pm and 9:00pm, but we are flexible due to travel methods and conditions. Exterior doors remain locked for security purposes, so please give us a courtesy call as you are approaching Smithfield to allow us greet you directly upon arrival. An alternate phone number to reach me or the owner is at the Mansion House Art & Antiques shop building next door. We believe that “back door guests are the best” as our back porch has the most convenient door to the parking area. You will receive both a room and house key to come and go as you like during your stay. Please inform us if there may be a need a late check out on your departure morning so that we can try to fulfill your request depending upon scheduled room turn around. Parking ~ There is ample parking space behind the house beside the garden accessible from an unmarked turn-in between the hedgerow from N. Church Street. Assistance ~ A staff member is on the property at all times when guests are in residence. Damages ~ Guests are financially responsible for unnecessary damage to furnishings, including infractions of the no smoking policy. Security ~ Please assist us with security by not allowing the public access to the house, only a few trusted visitors which you accompany and for whom you accept responsibility. Privacy ~ We do not provide a public restroom, nor permit unsupervised tours. Guided tours do not take visitors upstairs when the upper bedrooms are occupied. Fire Hazards/Smoking Damage ~ The Mansion is strictly non-smoking inside as well as near doors and windows. Be aware of fire extinguishers placed in rooms.
