Glamping at its finest! An excellent choice for a couples getaway, mini ski lodge, or any small group stay. The space The Hive features a fully functional kitchen with: plenty of cabinet and counter space including a folding window countertop and a peninsula with barstool seating; a 4-burner electric range with oven and vent-hood microwave; farmhouse sink with a reverse-osmosis purified drinking water spout and garbage disposal; a full-size refrigerator and freezer with ice maker; in-drawer dishwasher; silverware and knives, drinkware, cookware; basic seasonings; Keurig coffee station w/ K-Cups and non-dairy creamer; 4-slot toaster; 13’ ceiling and lots of natural light. There’s nothing tiny about the bathroom, with a full bathtub and rainfall shower head, fan, plumbed toilet with Tushy-brand bidet, combination washer/dryer, under-sink cabinet, shelving all around, and towel hooks, all hidden by a lockable pocket door. A 55” 4K TV and modern electric fireplace compliment the love seat in the living room, visible from the open-concept kitchen. The natural light continues throughout the home, and the living room is no exception. A large custom built-in shelving unit doubles as a staircase to one of the lofts. Surrounded by more windows, this bonus living or work space is multi-functional with a twin mattress and overhead view of the kitchen. Opposite the living area, just past the French door entryway, you’ll walk up the main stairs (with large built-in drawers for shoes or storage) to the bedrooms. The Master Bedroom sleeps 2 on a queen-sized bed with windows at the head and foot, guaranteeing the best views of both sunrise and sunset! 7’ ceilings allow ample headspace. Cube storage units hang over the bed and a closet with two bars provides all the hanging space you will need. By way of the Master Bedroom, a second sleeping loft is accessible by a small staircase with a privacy door. This loft sleeps 2 on a full-size bed, and a small dresser in the corner is flanked by a window spanning most of the wall. Enjoy staying at The Hive year-round thanks to two mini-splits which provide efficient heating and air conditioning for the entire house. Plus, when the weather is nice, nearly every window can be opened to let the fresh country air in! When it’s time to take the glamping outdoors, a spacious string-lit concrete patio overlooks the most breathtaking view on the property (as long as the fields aren’t in corn). Take advantage of a picnic table, outdoor furniture, and a fire pit (firewood provided by owners). There is a covered storage area under the gooseneck, perfect for skis and snowboards, bikes, coolers, etc. and a parking area right next to the house. In the summertime, guests will have access to a shared lake with catch-and-release fishing. Guests may bring their own kayaks, canoes, and fishing gear (life vests required on all watercraft). Daily sightings of deer, wild turkey, raptors, and other wildlife bring nature right to you, and you will enjoy walks along our half-mile driveway or around the alfalfa fields where you can visit our working honeybee hives or pick a handful of wild black raspberries! *Shower linens, bed linens, hand soaps, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, dish soaps, paper towels and toilet paper, and laundry detergent are all provided for your convenience. Guests must provide their own towels for pool use. **Honey Birch Farm controls multiple business ventures on the property. Our fields are commercially farmed, our workshop turns out handcrafted goods and artwork, we run short-term vacation rentals, and we also operate an Event Hall and Historic Barn for weddings, reunions, graduations, holiday parties, and more. Please be aware that guests of The Hive may share the property with other event guests during their stay, but the owners will always be transparent with Airbnb guests as well as Event Hall renters when these situations arise. However, our chief goal is to promote comfort, relaxation, and privacy for all of our guests. We may also offer special pricing for anyone who rents both The Hive and our Event Hall (inquiries welcome). Guest access The entire Tiny Home, patio, and back yard up to the arborvitaes is open to guests, as well as our pool (seasonally), lake, and driveway. Field edges and wooded paths may be available if mowed to enjoy a leisurely hike, or a walk along our driveway and take in the views of our entire landscape. The Event Hall, Farmhouse, and Long Utility Barn are restricted to guests. Our historic Wedding Barn may be available upon request, (depending on prior reservations) to enjoy a sunrise or sunset on the deck.
