The entrance is nestled under a welcoming awning, sharing a garden wall with the main house, all while ensuring your privacy remains our top priority. Originally crafted as the private art studio of our dear late friend and architect, the open studio concept invites you to unwind and reflect. Keep an eye out for charming paint splatters on the floor, adding a touch of artistic flair to the space. During cooler months, radiant heated floors ensure a snug and inviting atmosphere for your comfort. Sink into relaxation on a plush Queen memory foam mattress, complete with both down and memory foam pillows, all snugly enveloped in 100% French Linen sheets. For a dose of entertainment, enjoy our record player paired with a Sonos system, accessible via your phone or the dedicated iPad provided. To truly embrace the spirit of the New Mexican mountains, feel free to light up some piñon incense as you delve into books on local lore and legends. Our compact yet well-equipped kitchen is your culinary haven, boasting sharp knives, a full range of appliances, and all the essentials you could need for cooking up a storm. Guest access AWD or 4WD is required to ascent our dirt road, throughout the year but most especially in winter. When you arrive, you’ll descend a few steps down to your doors - there you’ll find a lockbox with the key to the casita for contactless entry should you need or desire it. Each guest is provided a unique code during their stay for enhanced security. A second key will be available in the casita. Although there is a main house located next to the casita, your privacy is respected above all else and you are encouraged to wander and enjoy our 3 acres of woods - connected by deer trails. However one of the best (and challenging) hikes in town is just up our road - where you can enjoy landscape art along the way by our late neighbor, Noel Stone - and on clear days you can see as far as Pedernal Mountain in Abiquiu! Other things to note In general, cell service is spotty in these parts and often comes and goes without warning. Please be sure to save your driving directions, the lockbox code and our WiFi information offline before traveling to ensure a stress-free arrival. If you find yourself having trouble and need to find cell service to message, call or confirm directions - simply make your way up out of the Valdez valley and usually a few service bars will come through.
