Enjoy the spacious, well appointed eat-in kitchen, indoor fireplace, and overall, an inviting refuge of greenery and calm. The space Inside the original red shingle exterior, the cottage has been gut-renovated and rebuilt to complement the stunning natural surroundings with a cozy, modern (but definitely not boring!) sensibility. Pick up fresh ingredients from any of the local farms and make dinner with top of the line, new appliances in a kitchen thoughtfully laid out. Write or nap in the screened-in sun porch. Enjoy the hammock, tire swings, and fire pit. Play bocce or croquet on the lawn. In the event of rain, play board games, cards and poker, or watch the 54" TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime. Guest access The entire two-story cottage is yours, along with the adjoining patio and adjacent lawn areas. Pet policy: We do not allow animals. Please note that local wildlife includes coyotes, hawks, deer, ticks, snakes and the occasional bear sighting, so plan accordingly for local hiking and activities. Other things to note Pick your activity-- the natural beauty of the area lends itself to hiking, biking, rock climbing, hang gliding and more. Or just relax and enjoy the greenery and birdsong. Hiking: Take a ½ mile leisurely stroll to Sam Point, part of Minnewaska State Park for stupendous sunsets or continue on the 9-mile loop deeper into the park. Also a five minutes drive to Bear Hill Nature Preserve. Or get a day pass for the Mohonk Mountain House's hiking trails (just 13 miles from the cottage.) Biking: Bike 200 miles of maintained trails in the area ranging from flat rail and canal rides to day long rides with elevation changes of 3000 feet. Bring your own gear or check out New Paltz Biking's hourly and daily rates, as well as trailhead transport. For art lovers, the cottage is centrally located (within 45 minutes) to Storm King, Dia Beacon, Art Omni, and the galleries in Beacon and Hudson. There are endless antiques and vintage shops in the surrounding towns, and seasonally, endless garage sales and farm stands.
