Escape the real world while connecting with friends and family. Spend your days hiking, biking, jumping in swimming holes, & sampling VT craft food & beer. Return to the yurt for sunsets, campfires, starry nights, & cozy slumber under the down blankets. The space The yurt is a 700+ square foot living space with a deck that wraps around the side orienting toward the mountains. The open living space has a kitchen, sitting, and dining area. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, range/oven, toaster, coffee maker, and sink with hot and cold water that is fed by a water tank — enough to prepare a feast to enjoy on the deck. The sitting area has multiple seating options and a large coffee table perfect for board games. The dining room has a vintage German beer hall table with room for 8 guests. There are two bedrooms with full beds and one bunk room with 4 singles and lockers for storage. Linens are provided for the stay and all beds have down blankets to stay warm on chilly nights. Guests should note that because this is a yurt, the bedrooms allow for some visual privacy, but not full privacy. Inside the yurt is a hot/cold shower and a small bathroom with a urine-only toilet (much appreciated in the middle of the night) and a sink with cold water for brushing teeth and washing hands. We will prepare the yurt with 40 gallons of water, but guests will be responsible for filling the water tanks once they are running low. This is easily done by turning on a switch that directly fills the tanks with plumbing from the well. Details on how to do this will be in the yurt guide book. The yurt does not have a TV, but does have a Bluetooth speaker and record player for relaxing music or dance parties. There is a Solis hot spot for Wi-Fi which can be activated by guests if needed (although it is quite nice to spend a few days without it). If you would like the Wi-Fi, send us a message while booking and we can send you all the details of how to prepare before your stay. If you are planning to connect to the Wi-Fi with your phone, it is important to download the Solis app BEFORE your stay. If the app is set up on your phone, it is easy to connect and use with multiple devices. We have pre-purchased 24 hour day passes for you to access as needed. Outdoor spaces include a large deck with an outdoor dining table that seats 8 with solar lighting above, as well as other comfortable spots to watch the sunset. In the yard is a large fire pit with outdoor seating, perfect for roasting marshmallows and watching the fireflies in the surrounding fields. The stars are amazing on a clear night and if you visit in August or September, you may get to see a sky full of shooting stars. A couple of short walking trails surround the perimeter of the property where you can pick wild berries including blackberries, raspberries, and elderberries. Please enjoy a few days of glamping in our special spot…watching shooting stars, building campfires, eating and drinking with friends and family, & enjoying all that the Northeast Kingdom has to offer at Jay View Yurt.
