This is an historic 1826 house just four blocks from the train station and near our downtown art gallery, antique stores and restaurants! Set back from the street, it features amazing architectural details, a large Southern-style porch and much more. The space This house is my country art studio and home and was recently featured in The Milford Journal, The Sussex Journal and the Orange and Sullivan Journal. For a look go to: http://www.milfordjournal.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/July.pdf There are currently two bedrooms for rent on the second floor—one with a Queen-size bed and the other with a full-size (double) bed. The new and modern bathroom is just outside of both rooms. (The house has six bedrooms, but I’m still working on some of them!) Others may be available soon. I have one cat—PJ—who can be contained in his own suite, if necessary, but people with extreme allergies to cat hair should be forewarned! While I love dogs, I cannot accommodate them at this moment. This house sits back from the street across from the Dutch Reformed Church and is one of the largest properties on Main Street, having been a doctor’s home and office for most of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Ask me to show you the working speaker tube, which connects the outside of the house to the upstairs where the doctor slept! The house features four carved, fluted Ionic columns with a pediment holding an original nineteenth-century fan window. The foyer is round with a curved staircase and hand-chamfered curved mahogany doors. Guest access The downstairs common areas consist of a The Round Foyer (Take a picture on the stairs!), a Music Room with a baby grand piano, a Living Room, a Media Room with some cable stations (not all), a large Dining Room and ample Kitchen, all of which you are welcome to enjoy. In the morning a complimentary light breakfast is available for you—juices, coffee, teas, cereals, yogurt, fruit in season, toast, bagels and/or muffins. You can use my fully-equipped kitchen, as necessary, if you want to cook your own provisions. There is a backyard with a summer fountain and small pond, a stone fence, gazebo and seating. The front porch is right out of “Gone with the Wind” and you are free to sit there if it is warm enough for you. It’s lovely to have a glass of wine out and watch night set in. During your stay People tell me I’m friendly and I enjoy interaction if you do! There are times when I am busy and will be less available for conversation. There are always things to do in the area, and I will share what's going on with you if you wish. A binder in your room will acquaint you with things to do and include discount coupons for a nearby gift emporium. Other things to note I have wireless internet and will give you the password upon arrival. There is a huge library that spills over into three rooms and you are welcome to read (not take with you!) any volume that interests you. I also subscribe to many magazines, so reading material is plentiful. Wineglasses, ice and bottle openers are available downstairs and may be used in your room or elsewhere in the house or grounds. I provide clean towels and have soap and shampoo for your use. Each room has a zoned dial on the radiator to control heat in the winter. There are window air conditioners in the summer months. If you need a box fan (for white noise), I can provide one. With advance warning for a fee, I may even be able to give you an art lesson--painting, collage or clay! Just let me know of your interest.
