1BR Pine Cone Cottage - Okanogan WA (4 mi to Omak)
1BR Pine Cone Cottage is a bit of wild west and a bit of man cave shoehorned into a wee depression-era cottage in beautiful north central Washington State. Small but comfy, with wifi and smart TV (antenna/Netflix), western fiction/non-fiction, this is a NW history lover's ideal base camp. The region boasts great fishing lakes and is a hiker's paradise. Not suitable for children or the physically challenged. No pets (allergen-free space for family). Possible early checkin or late checkout. The space Pine Cone is one of my Kokanee Cottages -- the west half of what may be the world's smallest duplex. Even though it is a wee one-bedroom unit, it has everything you need to make your stay in the country a pleasure. Enjoy a full kitchen (albeit with no counter space) with a microwave, blender, crockpot, coffee maker, and espresso machine. Kick back with wifi, HD SmartTV, Blue-ray player and DVDs, and a library of classic western fiction (Louis L'Amour, Zane Grey), historical non-fiction, modern suspense thrillers, and nature artists books while lounging on the comfy leather couch and antique rocking chair. A classic wireframe bistro set let’s you dine in style. The vintage bed with 12-inch memory foam mattress and cotton sheets and quilts promises a great night's sleep. Gorgeous limited edition and vintage nature art prints line the walls. Not quite a man cave (although the beer signs in the kitchen make an effort), the cowboys and indians décor leans toward the masculine. My son convinced me to hang on to the vintage blue bathroom fixtures, which are set off by my finest paint-by-number pictures (to keep the cottage humble). Check out my latest collection -- vintage cedar souvenir boxes. Guest access You have access to Pine Cone Cottage (unit 2) and a charcoal BBQ grill. You can borrow camping/recreational gear (stored in the house next door) at your own risk, please return items clean and undamaged. There may or may not be guests (or me!) in the other Kokanee Cottages -- pet-friendly 1BR Tamarack (unit 1, other half of duplex), 2BR Cottonwood (unit 3), 2BR Saskatoon (unit 5), and no-pets Nootka Rose (unit 4). Lots of parking space in the gravel lot that fronts the cottages. Other things to note WINTER ALERT: As is typical in very old houses with unheated crawl spaces, if the weather gets below 27 degrees, all the water faucets need to dribble to prevent damage from pipes freezing. Guests booking during winter months MUST be willing to run the faucets (and listen to dribbling water) if there is a cold snap during their stay. - Please tidy up before you leave - the cleaning fee covers laundering bed linens and towels, sanitizing the kitchen and bathroom, dusting, vacuuming/washing floors. It does NOT include doing dishes or putting things away, please take care of those tasks before you leave, and please also drop the trash in one of the green bins outside. Thank you! - Cottonwood (unit 3) hosts the modem for the wifi for Tamrack, Pine Cone, and Nootka Rose Cottages. - Garbage pickup is Thursday morning. - There is no USPS mail service to the cottages, but you can have mail sent to you in care of the Kokanee Cottages mailbox 1274 at the post office 6 blocks north. You will need to sign up at the PO and show ID. UPS and FedEx deliver to the cottages.
