The Recording Studio is a converted four-room studio (no gear left ) in the country surrounded by vineyards & forests. The price includes a $10 county tax fee and no costs for housekeeping or other extras. You have access to a Level 2 EV plugin, half bath & kitchenette, the main kitchen & shower are shared. No pets please. Our place is full of art, Alice in Wonderland magical landscaping, music, horses and creativity. A 56-acre woodland reserve for hiking is down the road. The space Stay in a converted recording studio (there is no gear left to use) in the country off a one-lane dirt road where many great records were made. Our guests say it is the quietest sleep they have had in years as the walls are 2' thick. You have your own private entrance into the studio complex which adjoins our house. No pets allowed for the safety of other guests who may have allergies. Guests have their own space which are four rooms total that adjoins the main house yet separate from our home. We are solar powered, on a well, situated on 5 serene acres and surrounded by vineyards. Our front yard has been turned into a large Alice in Wonderland sculpture for guests to enjoy. This is a rural 'in the country' getaway for unplugging. A California king bed is in the Control Room and a queen bed in the 'Isolation Booth'. We also have a single futon that can used and a couch. Price includes an 11% Mendocino County Transitory Occupancy Tax. All fees are included in the price. There is a $50 fee for each additional person after two people. Futon mattress is available for extra people. You have your own private half bath which has a toilet and sink. The shower is in a separate bathroom which is shared with the hosts in the main house. Included is a private coffee pot, tea pot, microwave, small fridge and a toaster oven. Use of the main kitchen is shared. Water source is an artesian well. Some of the artists who recorded here are Paul Winter, Holly Near, Alex de Grassi, Paul McCandless, Barbara Higbie, Kostia, Todd Philips, Mike Marshall, Darol Anger, Michael Manring, Joe Craven, Paul Winter and many others. Lee Mun Wah's award winning films on racism (The Color of Fear, Last Chance for Eden, If These Walls Could Talk) were all filmed here. Play the concert grand piano, guitars or percussion, take horseback riding lessons for a fee ($35 an hour - we have horses and a riding arena - contact us prior to arrival to schedule a lesson), swim in the pool (seasonal), hike trails in the 56 acre woods next to us, tour Mendocino county wineries (90+), and much more. Spencer will offer a private piano concert upon request. Wireless and cable hookup are throughout. Flat screen video and movies abound in surround sound in the Control Room. Listen to music on a killer sound system and wake up to complete silence. We are 10 minutes north of Ukiah right off Hwy 101, one hour to the Pacific coast and two hours north of SF. Visit regional highlights like numerous area wineries, Orr Hot Springs, Vichy Hot Springs, Montgomery Woods old growth redwood grove, The Skunk Train, the Mendocino coastline, Anderson Valley wineries, Blue Lake, The City of 10,000 Buddha's, Grace Hudson Museum, Steam and Roots of Power Museum, Lake Mendocino, Ukiah Golf Course and Ukiah's Golf course. Local restaurants to visit include Patrona, Oco Time, Saucy, Ukiah Brewing Company, City of 10,000 Buddha's, Cultivo, Left Coast Seafood , Ellie's Mutt Hut, Schat's Bakery and too many Mexican Restaurants to mention. Check out time is 12:00 noon the next day unless other arrangements are made. You have access to the pool in the warm months, private walking trails in the woods and wine and chocolate when you arrive! We will interact with our guests as much as they feel comfortable. If you need space, no issue....if you want company or where to find the hidden secrets in Mendocino County....we know them. However it works for you, works for us. This is your vacation. We live in the country on a one lane dirt road. It is quiet and yet close to town (10 minutes). We have a 3 acre walnut orchard, riding arena, great garden on 5 acres and surrounded by much more. MTA (Local bus line) comes to Redwood Valley. Greyhound stop is 20 minutes away. We will be happy to coordinate s time to meet and pick you up. Guest access Multiple items to experience and play with - pianos, killer sound system, horseback lessons (a $50 extra fee - with a pre-scheduled appt), pool in the summer, playground for kids, badminton, long walks in 56 acres of forest nearby, a tour of the sculpture barn, chocolates and a bottle of wine when you arrive! A private piano concert with Spencer is available upon request. Other things to note Our house is on a one lane dirt road, and there is no issue getting here, just drive slowly please. Amazing sound system and dead quiet sleeping environment. No pets allowed for the safety of other guests who may have allergies. Spencer, a renown composer/pianist (with 15 records), will give a mini private concert if requested.
