Casa Akasha Bacalar
The Bugambilia Apartment is one of only 3 units of Casa Akasha, a cute small tropical private property with pool only two blocks from the lagoon. The location is perfect both for a short visit of Bacalar or for a longer stay to get the real taste of Bacalar, since you can basically walk everywhere: to the lagoon (we have a great public spot just around the corner), the market (fresh veggies from the nearby towns!), the center (restaurants) and even a great Arts Center a couple of blocks away! The space Bugambilia Apartment has one bedroom with a double bed and an in-built shower (with hot water and great pressure) and the kitchenette/working space is perfect to prepare and cook easy meals. It also has a little tiny patio with a hammock. The design combines minimalism and Mexican craftsmanship, from its wood work to the cushions and macramé pieces, making the space perfect to relax and unwind. The common area, shared by only three units in total, features a little pool, sun beds and a big wooden table immersed in trees and plants. Guest access The patio, which is shared with the other two units on the property, is like a little oasis in town, with trees, plants, hammocks and a lovely pool. You are welcome to relax there at any time and use the pool, the big table and the hammock. Other things to note Casa Akasha is a private holiday home, which we (Michela and Gerardo, two friends who fell in love with Bacalar) built with love and effort, and that we are happy to share with our guests. It is not perfect, but it is spotless clean and designed and furnished with love... It is actually very cute if you like our minimalistic, organic style. If you are looking for a extra luxurious place, this is not is. It is comfortable and lovely but simple. What makes it special is the location and the garden. We did not tear down a single tree and you can definitely feel it in our little peaceful oasis. Also, the neighbors have roosters. Like most people in Bacalar. Please, when you visit these towns remember that that is how people live here: having a rooster or other animals is normal. Insects here are normal as well, even though we do our best to make boundaries clear with them. Please remember YOU ARE VISITING A TROPICAL AREA! :)
